How do I pick the right sized yurt for my event?

Visit our Hire Range page and choose a yurt size. You will then be able to see how many people you can sleep, sit or stand in the yurt. There are also capacity plans and images on these pages. The Weddings and Event Yurts pages have some great plans that show capacities for linked yurts. If you’re unsure which yurts would be suitable for your event, simply get in touch and we’ll happily make some recommendations.

Is my site suitable for a yurt?

Yurts ideally need to be erected on flat grass (for other surfaces please contact us). We must be able to access the site in our vehicle and park next to or very near the yurt site on hard standing or firm grass. If we are required to drive onto grass that may be waterlogged there must be a tractor or similar on hand to pull us out of the mud! For smaller jobs we will come in a 3.5ton van and for larger jobs a lorry (7.5/18/26ton).

Can I put a yurt up on hard standing?

Ideally yurts need to be erected on flat grass as the yurts are secured to the ground using metal pins. However, if you have a hard-standing surface only please get in touch to discuss solutions.

Can yurts be put up on a slope?

Ideally yurts need to be put up on an area of flat grass. However yurts can tolerate a slight slope. Please contact us to discuss the specifics of your site.

Can you deliver anywhere in the UK?

We are based in Devon but are happy to travel. Send us your event date, site location and an idea of what you would like to order and we will quote for the delivery.

How much does delivery cost?

Delivery prices are based on distance from our base in Devon and the amount of equipment ordered. Email or call us for a quote.

Do I put up the yurt myself?

No, prices include set up and take down of the yurt by our lovely crew.

Are the yurts totally weather proof?

It is not possible to guarantee that tents including yurts will be 100% weather proof especially in the event of extreme weather conditions and bearing in mind the risk of flooding at the event site. However, all our yurts come with ground sheets, our canvas is treated each year with a water proofer and we’ll do our upmost to ensure that you stay warm and dry in your yurt. We have a great track record even in very bad weather.

Do the yurts come with flooring?

Yes, all our yurts come with a PVC groundsheet, marquee carpets/coconut matting and kilim carpets (except the 44ft which does not come with kilim carpets)

How do I secure my booking?

We ask for a 50% booking deposit and a 25% refundable damage deposit to be paid to secure the booking.

When is my final payment due?

We ask the final 50% payment to be made 48hrs before delivery.

What is the damage deposit?

We ask for a 25% refundable damage deposit to be paid when you make the booking. This will be refunded to you the week after your event if no damage has occurred. In the unlikely event of any damage we will retain the replacement value from the damage deposit or invoice if costs exceed the damage deposit paid.

What is considered chargeable damage?

We charge for excessive soiling of the canvas, wall hangings, soft furnishings and carpets and for broken equipment or yurt structure.

Can I see a yurt in person?

We have some amazing images on our website which we hope will give you a good feel of the yurts. It may be possible to view a yurt that is up for an event so please contact us and we’ll see what we can do.

Do you do site visits?

We aim to assess site suitability by asking a number of simple questions and if necessary asking for photos of the access and yurt site to be sent to us for review.

Can I stand up through out the structure?

Yes the walls are vertical and the height is 5’6” /1.65m there is plenty of room for people to stand right up to the edge of the yurt wall.

How can I heat a yurt?

We can supply wood burners and electric convector heaters to heat the yurts. At very cold times of year it may be sensible to supplement the wood burners in the larger yurts with a space heater hired from a local company.

Can I hire a yurt in the winter

Yes, yurts are great during the colder months as they can be heated with wood burners and are sealed units. To keep you and the yurts safe we do have a winter hire policy regarding snow/high winds – please ask and we can send you this document. The only yurt which we will not erect in winter is our 44ft yurt.
